Video Music Box (VMB), created in 1983 by Ralph McDaniels, is a 60 minute American television program/series that was the first to cater to the growing audiences of hip-hop fans.
VMB utilizes music to convey socially relevant messages; to educate; engage; entertain; and inform the community and youth. It originally aired on New York City-owned public television station WNYC-TV and was one of the most influential shows to give hip-hop/urban artists mainstream exposure.
